Introduction	My background is varied. I am a Khoi. I grew up Beaufort West, a small town in South Africa in what I consider an environment that promotes a connetion to nature, and a respect for natural processes. My great grandmother was a full blooded South African, her daughter, my grandmother was a fierce advocate for the way of life for South Africans. It was my grandmother who taught me to respect myself and to respect the natural processes of nature. As I grew older I lived with those values. I am active in midwifery on a local, national and international level. I believe childbirth is a natural process that takes place on many levels, emotional, mental , social, spriritual and physical.
