Introduction Prior to his work in Los Angeles, he brings over 20 years of work in political advocacy, community organizing and as a diversity trainer, columnist and author. After working on the Gore/Lieberman campaign, Taro left the United States for Canada where he remained for nearly ten years. Taro was the first Executive Director for the State Commission on Asian Affairs in Oregon for Governor John Kitzhaber. He was the first Diversity Manager for Clackamas County one of the three counties that make up Portland Oregon.. His work has been included in scholarly journals, textbooks and also a featured author in Too Mixed Up. While in Portland, hosted a weekly morning call-in radio program at KBOO, the largest listener sponsored radio in the US. He wrote a weekly column for nine years carried by several papers with circulation in Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Washington DC. Taro was the first non-Japanese citizen to be appointed as the Executive Director of Amnesty International, Japan. Taro was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. He is fluent in Japanese. He now lives in Los Angeles.
