| Introduction | Born in Durban, South Africa, I was introduced early to sailing by my father, sailing with him on dinghies as young as 2 years old. I grew up sailing several different dinghies, from Optimists to Cadets to Dabchicks and to Lasers. I stopped sailing Lasers in 1984 to spend more time racing keelboats. Problem is I missed the simple beauty of the Laser, and started sailing the boat again a year and a half ago. I have enjoyed myself so much participating in the various Masters events up and down the east coast that I decided to compete in the 2009 Laser Masters World Championships in St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada (just south of Halifax). I hope my posts before, during and after the event will give some of the feel of this wonderful event. |
