Introduction I have a deep knowledge of literature for young people acquired over more than 30 years through work as a classroom teacher, a public youth services and collection development librarian, and as a school librarian working with students from Pre-K though Grade 12. I've reviewed for School Library Journal, Booklist and Kirkus; written numerous articles, book guides and bibliographies and taught children's and young adult literature at the college level. I've been very active in the Association for Library Service to Children serving as its 2010-11 President, and as a member of the Newbery, Caldecott and Sibert Award Committees,
Favorite Movies I love movies so it's hard to say. Movies that blew my mind at different points in my life were Rosselini's Rome, Open City, Zemeckis's Used Cars and Cuaron's Children of Men. There was a time when I watched with friends Bull Durham and the Big Easy over and over again. I mostly watch cable TV these days: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Justified (Game of Thrones is a very guilty pleasure). Big Sopranos fan, but I think the greatest show of all time is The Wired.
Favorite Books Since Mary McCarthy's Memories of a Catholic Girlhood and Patti Smith's Just Kids are two of my all time favorites, I guess I really like writer's memoirs.
