About me

Location Arvada, Colorado, United States
Introduction I've worked in the cultural heritage (museums, libraries, and archives) field for 10+ years, and find that the opportunity to do the cataloging and collections work that initially drew me to the field to be waning. So I'm reinventing myself with skills that I believe will travel, while, of course, keeping up with my "extracurriculars." I still love my original fields--anthropology, museums, libraries, archives--and they will probably still show up a lot here, but I find that I'm going to have to take a different path, professionally. Now looking to programming. Farewell, MARC and EAD; hello, Python and SQL.
Interests Books, hot beverages, gardening, social justice, open source, international relations and development, feminism, books, anthropology, museums, music, languages, baking, more books, making stuff with my hands, making stuff with my brain, being a responsible global citizen
Favorite Movies Casablanca, Amelie
Favorite Music Lotsa classical (mostly pre-Romantic Era, then jumping to, you know, Copeland and Arvo Pärt) Plus some Wailin' Jennies, Stan Rogers, Shakira, Kate Rusby, Willie Colón, etc. "Eclectic" might be the word.
Favorite Books Too hard to say. My (semi)guilty-pleasure is the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. Serious titles? No Telephone to Heaven, House on Mango Street, Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, The Shipping News, To Kill a Mockingbird, the autobiographies of Eleanor Roosevelt and Madeleine Albright, and more.
