| Introduction | I am a Catholic with an abiding love for the spirituality of both the Church in the East and the Church in the West. In both Holy Cards and Icons I find grace. In the writings of many Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox Christians I have found truth, and in their prayers I have found light. My prayer is for Christian unity. Those are the interests I bring to my blogs, but as for who I am, this poem that I wrote some years ago is probably still my best biographical statement: "Don't ask me who I am; I'll slip away, uncaught by convoluted monologue. We'll meet another way. Our souls are freer than all birds; I'd rather be forgot than find myself tied into words, as solidly as knot." From A LATCH AGAINST THE WIND, Atheneum, NY 1985 |
