| Introduction | As a young girl carrying the last name Emerson, I knew I wanted to be like Ralph Waldo Emerson. Related or not it was a motivation for me. My father always expressed himself through poetry. Maybe it is something that runs in our blood. Not knowing much about writing, I sucked in school and it might show. At the age of twelve for Christmas, my mother bought my first journal. So she explained, write whatever you want how your day went. First entry on that day was very short. More I wrote, realizing everyone has chapters in their life's. Stories to be told, wanting mine to be told and not wanting to be recognized after I leave this world. Freshman year in high school poetry was introduced to me, I I fell in Love, it was amazing an so easy to put words together with feeling, so much emotion. Almost like I am painting, drawing a picture but with words. Now a mother of three amazing children who have a big imagination I encourage them to write, to draw Express themselves. Embrace every emotion bad or good and draw a picture. There is someone out there than can relate. |
