OccupationDriving Instructor
LocationForres, Moray, United Kingdom
IntroductionI am a fully qualified Driving Instructor, covering a large area - from Elgin and Lossiemouth in the East, through Forres, Nairn and Inverness, to Ullapool and beyond on the west coast. Married to Jane, with 2 step-daughters (Rachel & Anna), 5 grandchildren (Jordan, Carmen, Charlie, Corrin and Frankie), 2 dogs (Daphne & Dolly) and Jane has 2 ponies (Dave & Lachie). Spent years and years owning or managing pubs/bars/restaurants/hotels (including The Cross Keys, Totternhoe; The Prince of Wales Feathers, Castor; The Newton Hotel, Nairn and Bunchrew House Hotel, Inverness) before deciding to become a Driving Instructor (I just wanted to teach people something and Rachel said that Inverness was short of driving instructors).... just wish I had done it much earlier.
InterestsMusic, films, walking, driving, reading, wine, whisky (Lagavulin if you're buying), family, football (Liverpool and Inverness Caley Thistle) and Test Cricket.
Favorite moviesWould anyone really be interested in this sort of thing? Ummm... Most Woody Allen films (especially Love & Death, Sleeper and Manhattan); Pulp Fiction; Bladerunner; Fargo; City of God; Sexy Beast, Mulholland Drive and the Bourne films. If there was only one film I could ever watch again it would be Some like it hot.
Favorite musicPretty much everything that isn't over-produced, Simon Cowelled pap. Joy Division, The Rolling Stones, The Damned, Saint Etienne, New Order, Belle & Sebastien, The Pixies, Flaming Lips, The White Stripes, The Only Ones, Cocteau Twins, Jesus & Mary Chain, Otis Redding, Jackson 5, Bran Van 3000, Julie Fowlis (looking forward to seeing her again late July),Public Enemy, De La Soul, Karine Polwart, The Specials (going to see them in November - can't wait), Aztec Camera, Josh Rouse and thousands more. Current favourite band is probably British Sea Power.
Favorite booksFavourite books from recent years: Screen Burn, Brain men, The Liar, There's something about Kevin, The Life of Pi, various non-fiction (especially science). Banished to an island, with only one book to take with me I would take Woody Allen's Complete Prose.
