About me

Introduction I’ve started this blog to preserve some of my writings, knowing that I’ll enjoy it and hoping its readers will too. I’m retired from a career in international development that took me to 30 countries on four continents. I wrote with great frequency – memos, analyses, evaluations, reports, summaries, footnotes, chapters, and of course e-mails. It was the kind of writing required for the job – bureaucratic, tedious, and disciplined. Now, in retirement in the South African bush, I still write. I dabble with a diary and memoirs. I write missives of complaint to the electric and telephone companies, and the roads department. I write a newsletter for our local nature conservancy. I was quite pleased that The Sunday Independent of South Africa published my Education piece about Meetsetshehla Secondary School in August 2008 and my Waterberg brand name piece in February 2009.
