About me

Location Vancouver Island, Canada
Introduction I took my Nia training and certification on Salt Spring Island in the summer of 2006. I began teaching Nia classes in Courtenay in January of 2007. My movement background began at the age of 27, when I happened to spend a week at Hollyhock. The only available workshop that week was Tribal Dance, and I figured "what the heck?" and gave it a whirl. Until that week I had considered myself unathletic, as well as someone who genuinely didn't really like to move that much. That week cracked me open and brought dance and movement into my life in a way there's been no going back from. Since then I've hosted a weekly dance sessions called Bone Deep Dance, studied Renshikan karate, Feldenkrais, and Alexander Technique. I embrace Nia wholeheartedly and value the chance to teach as a way to make sure I maintain it as a constant in my personal practice.
