| Introduction | We have downsized a great deal now that we are in our 60s. I don't think we would consider ourselves minimialist but we do love the simplicity of living with less. There is a calmness that comes with being grateful and content with what God provides for us daily. If you are struggling to find contentment in today's world, read "The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment" by Jeremiah Burroughs -- he reminds us that peace and calm in the midst of great troubles is a requirement for a Christian, and that learning contentment is the ABCs of the Christian life. But contentment does not come naturally. We excuse our stress, anxiety, and discouragement by claiming that we are just planning for the future and reacting normally to trials. But in this Puritan classic, Burroughs presents readers with the high calling to be content whatever the circumstances: “Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God’s wise and fatherly disposal.” |

| Favorite movies | I personally do not watch very many movies. Years ago I read that a movie producer admitted that in order to have a hit movie he had to break "at least" 3 of the 10 Commandments. "Our music, TV shows, movies, magazines, and even friends can lead us towards sin. They can influence our thinking to believe what God calls sin is good, and vice versa" - https://wbmoore.wordpress.com/2016/03/14/should-christians-watch-movies-or-tv-shows-which-depict-evil/ |
