| Introduction | Hello! My name is Amber Mathis Coburn and I teach 7/8 English Language Arts at Orange Charter School in Hillsborough, NC. I was born and grew up in Asheville, NC. Upon graduating from high school I came down from the mountains to go to Elon University. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Watson Scholar, a program for first generation college students. During my time at Elon, I was very involved in the leadership, volunteer and education programs. I graduated with a degree in Middle Grades Language Arts. For as long as I can remember, I have ALWAYS wanted to teach middle school. It has been my passion since I was in middle school myself. After graduating I stayed close to Burlington and started my teaching career in Alamance County. During this past summer I got married to the greatest man I know! We have since settled down in our new home in Mebane with our two fur babies, George and Henry. I look forward to teaching at Orange Charter this year and getting to know everyone in the OCS community! |
