| Introduction | My father, Thomas George Bowman introduced me to a love of the outdoors as a young boy. We winter backpacked in the Pocono's, Adirondacks and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I continue to backpack, kayak and canoe and especially enjoy the wilderness experience on multi day/week trips. I've had the privilege of paddling many rivers of the Southwest including the Red, Rio Grande, Pecos, San Juan, Caddo, Colorado, and the Escalante. Many of these trips were over 100 miles and took up to a week. The highlight of my paddling experience has been several trips to Glacier Bay National Park,Alaska on self guided sea kayak expeditions that were multi-week trips. My primary paddling though finds me on flat water these days on Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma, a mountain lake close to home. It's during these times that I feel so close to God, a spiritual retreat as it were. There are many stories and spiritual lessons I draw from these experiences that I'd like to share with you. |
