About me

Introduction I am an associate professor of communication at The University of Tulsa, in Tulsa, OK. My interests are history, politics, literature, media studies, and beer. A zograscope was an old form of media technology that turned two-dimensional pictures into three dimensional pictures. In other words, a device for adding depth to the original text (get it?) As for Trithemius. He was a sixteenth-century bishop who wrote arguments extolling the virtues of written manuscripts over printed books. Of course, his own books were printed. He seemed an appropriate namesake for a blog like this, which uses new media to puncture the pretensions of new media. Trithemius was also a bit of a fraud, though. Whether that aspect of his personality is applicable to this blog is entirely up to the reader to decide.
