| Introduction | I live in an enchanted part of Northern California that lends itself to hiking, sitting on hilltops, walks on the coast, and all things outdoors. I am grateful to the amazing community of people with whom I share this place. Currently, I am the resource specialist (special education teacher) at Leadership High School, a charter school in San Francisco. Before moving to California, I taught English for three years on the westside of Chicago, and helped to open a small school there. I live with my boyfriend and partner, Cary, who helps sustain me (and doesn't let me take take myself too seriously). I am surrounded by an incredible network of family and friends (west coast to east coast, and all the space in between). In September 2006, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was 28. |
