| Introduction | I learned to sail in the 80's, in an old traditional boat that I recovered. Twenty years later I bought a new Bavaria 36 but discovered that, although it handled very well in almost all wind conditions and sailing points, it didn't sail well against the wind, in medium or strong conditions. I've done close to 20,000 miles with it, enjoying it, but always trying to understand why that boat did not sail properly upwind, testing different sailboats, learning about naval architecture. The goal was to increase my knowledge, to be able to choose my next sailboat accordingly with what I wanted from a sail and cruising boat. With time I a learned quite a bit about sailing boats and I decided to share that knowledge through a blog, hoping it can be useful to other sailors. I retired in 2011 and since then sailed and cruised for 5 months each year, doing an average of 2000 miles, cruising mainly in Greece , Turkey and Italy, staying most of the times at anchor, in beautiful places. I reunited a lot of information regarding nice places, beautiful anchorages, information that can be useful for other cruisers, so I decided to share that information in another blog. |
