| Introduction | As I grew up, I realized how often my dad took pictures of our family. No one in my family really liked taking pictures or even being in the picture, except for my parents, my sister, and I. Every year before the Hmong New Year celebration, I'd make my mom dress me up in traditional Hmong clothes, along with my little sister, to take pictures. I believe I started making my mom do this around the age of 9. I wanted to see how much I could possibly change within a few years. Today, I look at the oldest photo of my sister and I and say, "Oh wow, I can't believe we actually made mom and dad do all this." As the years went by, more pictures were taken. I definitely saw changes throughout my appearance. Also, I remember how excited I was about school pictures in elementary. I never bought any of the pictures but I always knew that one of my friends would have a yearbook I could peek at. |
