About me

Location North Grafton, MA, United States
Introduction While I was growing-up, my mother fostered a love for nature through the many books she bought me and my Uncle Donny taught me the names of wildflowers on our many walks together. So it seems only natural that my artistic endeavors have been mostly to record my impressions of the natural world. Through my studies in the Natural Science Illustration certificate program at The Rhode Island School of Design, I have gained the skills to give a pale homage to the beauty that surrounds us. My work is a combination of the strict “rules” of natural science illustration coupled with the more liberal use of “artistic“ interpretation. I like to take the ordinary, whether it be a branch of dried birch leaves or a group of shells, and interpret them in such a way that the viewer can see the beauty of even mundane objects. Aldo Leopold wrote, ”the last word in ignorance is the man who says of an animal or plant, ’What good is it?’”
