IntroductionMy interest in astronomy began as a boy with a small 60mm telescope pointed at Jupiter. Later my parents gave me a 3 inch reflecting telescope from Edmund Scientific. Next as a teenager I ground and polished a 6 inch Pyrex mirror in my basement and put it into a tube mounted on an equatorial mount. More telescopes followed. I built a Dobsonian mounted 10 inch scope. When Meade offered an LX200 10 inch scope I purchased one and built a small observatory in my back yard to keep it in. That observatory was replaced with a 10 foot x 12 foot roll off roof observatory which now houses a 12 inch Meade fork mounted telescope on a permanent mount. Only in the last four or five years have I been interested in imaging, starting with a Mallincam Jr. Pro, then a NIKON D5100 DSLR, and finally a DS287/c Mallincam camera for imaging deep sky, asteroids, and comets. My wife of 46 years and I have 7 children and 21 grandchildren at the present time. Astronomy has been my unpaid hobby for about 58 years. I am currently a member of the Cache Valley Astronomical Society with a website named CVAS-utah skies.org
