| Introduction | I am a currently a Junior at the University of Southern California double majoring in History and Cinema-Production. I aspire to write, direct, and/or produce historically-based fiction movies. I love history, and it is my opinion that the reason a considerable percentage of other Americans do not share my passion for the subject is ineffective media presentation. Statistics in a textbook convey facts, but simply do not do justice to the beauty of history as the human story. I am of the opinion that the most effective method of conveying the human story, full of emotion and experience, is through the most effective form of modern media, film. Going further, in the spirit of C.S. Lewis who said (pardon the paraphrase), if you really want to make an impact on this world, write a great piece of fiction, I would like to make historically-based fiction movies. Through this medium, I believe history can be brought to life and understood as it was meant to be. |
