Introduction | Contact me: juliatryon11@gmail.com I moved to Brora, Sutherland with my husband in August 2013. Previously I lived in Newcastle where I had studied Fine Art at Newcastle University. Since moving to the Highlands, I have been creating work inspired by the fascinating architecture; from grand castles to ruined cottages. I aim to represent well known buildings in a way that also opens up an imaginative fairy tale side to them. I often start by creating a distorted architectural model with painted detail. Then I photograph it. Sometimes I make the ink run in the resulting digital prints to blend photography and painting. I also create paintings with photographic and three dimensional elements collaged into them. I aim to bring out a spiritual significance in scenes. Like a fairy tale, these scenes can be disorientating, distorted, and dramatically atmospheric but they always contain a sense of hope. This way I aim to express my experience of faith. I work to create art that contains imagery that many people can relate to and yet uses unusual and exciting media. (nee Julia Farries) |
