Introduction | I am not apolitical. I vote in every single election, both local and national; special (non-November) ones, too. I work for the campaigns of candidates I support. My front yard is cluttered with lawn signs which make my party affiliation clear for all to see. Still, I dread election season, despite the many fundraising cocktail parties which comprise the bulk of my social life. In recent years I have resorted to frequent use of the mute button on the television remote to avoid the truth-stretching and general ugliness of political ads and partisan discussion programs. But this year I became aware of a course offered by my alma mater which would force me to remove my head from the sand and confront the issues. Ugh! I enrolled. Here we go... |
