| Introduction | Eli is the moniker I use for my Contemporary Jewellery practice. Inspired by a family character from the 1840's, Eli is about communicating ideas through precious objects, rather than speech. The original Eli was mute, and has a curiously dark story behind his efforts to communicate to the world. I extract this imagery of dark, silent and heavy moments, and internal thinking processes, to render my work in precious metals. Often using a blackened finish rather than a shiny polished finish, which gives my pieces a great depth and weight.
