About me

Introduction I started Spindlewhorl to unravel the cobwebs in my mind. It's been since 2006 and I'm still unraveling. Spindlewhorl is about culture, folklore, philosophy, ancient bloodlust, archaeology, rocks, music, ice, weaving, mythology, Vikings, hockey--you know, that sort of thing. I've got two novels: the first (unpublished) is about Viking spirituality; the second (Seeking the Center, Cuidono Press) is about hockey spirituality--and a very passionate love story set in the very cold north. Because passion heats the hottest when the temperature bottoms out. That's the northern way, and that's Spindlewhorl. You may ask, what is a spindle whorl? A spindle whorl, my friend, is the heavy, doughnut-shaped thing that provides centrifugal force to keep the spindle spinning: spinning yarn that can be woven into cloth to keep us warm during those frigid northern winters. Archaeologists find these whorls wherever a Norse woman once lived. So yeah, that's me, partly, a Norse woman, somewhat out of place and time, but ceaselessly spinning her observations, thoughts, ideas, stories, complaints, rants, manifestos--and who knows what else? Welcome/Välkommen!
