| Introduction | I'm a retired teacher who has taught in Halifax, New Glasgow, Guysborough and Antigonish and at all Grade levels, including serving four years at the Straight Regional School Board. I've always enjoyed writing and published my first book of poetry,To My Someday Child, in 1975. Then followed more poetry, Woman Sing, and Burlap and Lace. I published My first novel, Chasing Freedom, in the fall of 2011, which was nominated for the Ann Connor Brimer Book Award. The sequel, If This Is Freedom, 2013 won the 2017 One Book Nova Scotia Award. I've also ventured into writing a children's book, Abigail's Wish, published by Nimbus in 2016. I'm currently waiting for Righting Canada's Wrongs - Africville to go to print at Formac Publishing. My current labour of love is another historical fiction novel. Fingers crossed on this one. Who knew retirement could be so much fun? |
