Introduction I was born in Westbrook, Me. It was a tiny hospital which is now an old people's home. My father is a poet and wannabe novelist and an English professor. My mother is from a large Iowa family and she is an excellent precise cook, she was the secretary for the police department in the detectives division and then later it became the homicide division. I remember the phone ringing in the middle of the night and her going in to the station to record the statements of the people involved in crimes. When she was 60 she went back to school for a degree in classics and sociology. She is almost 75 and will be celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary this May! I love all the details of my families diverse life and I try to share the knowledge they have shared with me with my children and anyone willing to listen to me or read my writing.
Interests Playing viola, playing violin, playing piano, cooking, chatting, copious consumption of coffee, exercising to justify dangerous dessert inhalation, and languid lounging.
Favorite Music I love music. There is value in making interesting noise.
Favorite Books Alice Munro is a favorite writer of mine and so is Raymond Carver and of course I love my Dad's poetry plus I love reading religious texts;the bible, the Mormon bible, the Egyptian book of the dead, the Vedas, the Koran. I am very interested in how people worship and about religions.
