| Introduction | I'm Jason Peck, owner of Finer Points Home Inspections, a veteran-owned home inspection company serving Cabot, Austin, Jacksonville, Sherwood, North Little Rock, Beebe, Ward, and Searcy, Arkansas. After 21 years in the United States Air Force as a First Sergeant, I built my home inspection career around the same principles that guided my service: integrity, precision, and genuine commitment to others. I'm AHIT trained and certified, I operate under Arkansas and ASHI standards of practice, and I hold Arkansas Home Inspector License #HI-2611. This blog covers what every Arkansas homeowner, buyer, and seller should know. From what to expect during a home inspection to seasonal maintenance tips specific to central Arkansas, my goal is to give you honest, practical information you can actually use. No fluff. No scare tactics. Just straightforward guidance from a certified Arkansas home inspector who has made a career out of doing things the right way. |
| Interests | Home inspection is more than a checklist. It's a discipline that rewards curiosity, continuous learning, and a genuine desire to help people make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. My interests within the field run deep. I'm particularly focused on how homes perform as systems, not just as a collection of individual components. The way a roof, attic, insulation, and HVAC system interact tells a much richer story than any single item inspected in isolation. Understanding those relationships is what separates a thorough inspection from a surface-level walkthrough. I stay current with Arkansas-specific building practices, regional weather patterns, and how central Arkansas climate conditions affect homes over time. From pier and beam foundations common in older central Arkansas construction to the moisture and drainage challenges that come with our soil types and seasonal rainfall, local knowledge matters as much as technical training. I'm also deeply interested in inspector education, report communication, and helping clients actually understand what they're reading. A report full of jargon and vague language doesn't serve anyone. Clear, honest, and useful communication is a craft I work at constantly. Beyond the inspection itself, I follow developments in home maintenance best practices, emerging issues in residential construction, and the evolving standards set by ASHI and the state of Arkansas. If it has to do with helping homeowners protect their investment and make informed decisions, I'm interested in it. |
