Introduction Shirlene grew up in beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming. She was raised on a farm where she had calves to feed, horses to ride and sheep to play with. Shirlene attended Ricks College and Utah State University to earn her degree in Elementary Education. She and her husband, David, then moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin where they both completed their Master degrees. Shirlene has taught preschool for 22 years. She spent 9 years teaching private preschool in Lehi, Utah. In 2001, Shirlene's family moved to Roosevelt, Utah. Shirlene was asked to set up the Early Childhood Lab School at the USU Uintah Basin Campus which is now a fully accredited program. She has taught preschool in Roosevelt both privately and at USU for the past 13 years. Currently, she is a full time faculty member of Utah State University's Family, Consumer and Human Development department. Half of the time she spends with 4 year-olds, with lots of energy, and the other half of the time, she spends with college students, who "wish" they had that much energy! Shirlene has 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl, ages 25, 22, 19, and 15 and one very cute grand baby.
