Introduction	JFI has been painting since his first university years, long before building, teaching, drawing, writing or any other professional commitments. His painting began rooted in the art courses and drawing skills learnt and developed at the university, to become soon an independent task and mostly a very private, if not a secret, one. Big or small pictures have been given to friends during the last decades, sold to many different customers, sometimes to be part of a substantial private collection, and purchased in a few cases by an industrial or financial company. One could say that the work has been done out of the necessity and pleasure of painting, as so many painters have done to satisfy themselves while reflecting about their world and interpreting the art of their time. Though there is a wide range of such artists, from the so- to -say therapeutic painters like Kirchner to those more curious and intimate like Carus, such profile seems nowadays outdated. But there is little worrying about not being a business painter expected to be mostly a market crack.
