| Introduction | My name is Mary Speer, and I am a traveler, student, and teacher. I am also a food, dance, and language aficionado. I like to learn from people and teach them what I know. I am fluent in Spanish and Chinese, and I have taught English in Taiwan. I am in the Foreign Language Education Master's program at UT, and I would like to teach Spanish to undergraduates someday. The reason I am so passionate about teaching language is that I feel it is my chance to give back all of the wonderful experiences I gained from being a foreign language student. Foreign language learning is about venturing outside your comfort zone and trying something new. It is one of the most interesting activities life has to offer because it is food for the mind and spirit, and it celebrates the uniqueness of being human. |
