| Introduction | Why Mrs John? It's not that I'm from a different era or am anti-feminist, far from it. Whilst we're living in Thailand, there are certain sounds that are difficult for locals to pronounce when speaking English. Our surname causes a lot of issues and so my husband is referred to as "Mr John" by his students - it's just easier. Hence, by default, I became Mrs John. I've put this blog together for three reasons. 1) to let all our friends and family scattered all over the world keep up to speed during our time here. 2) to learn a new skill. 3) it was difficult to find information about Chanthaburi, in English, on the internet before we arrived so hopefully as time goes on, other people will be able to find useful information. We've run our own business for the last eight years and in that time, Mr John has completed a degree and teaching qualification. Up until we arrived here, I'd had a long and reasonably successful career in Financial Services. Mr John & I set out with a five year plan (albeit 6 years ago) so that I could retire, have a think about what I want to do when I grow up and catch up on some well deserved sleep. |
