Introduction I was born in 1953 and I was taken on my first train ride in 1963. In 1978 I went to work on the Santa Fe Railroad and in 1988 for Amtrak until 2006. My father was a Fundamental Baptist Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, as well as a teacher. We lived in a modest home in Springfield Missouri until December 31, 1954. Dad had a mover come to the home and with the family help they load it up. Then late that night we all left for Wichita, Kansas where my dad had a job at Boeing during the building of the B-52 bombers. We arrived very early on January 1, 1955 to our new home in what is called Plainview. This was housing that was build in 1941 to house worker for the defense plants in Wichita. Plainview was the larger unincorporated community in the state of Kansas until Wichita anxiety them into the city. We were not the idolized family type of the sixties but we were a working family. We went to First Bible Baptist Church on north Oliver until 1971 when we changed to Messiah Baptist Church at Hillside and Mount Vernon.
