Introduction Ashley Elaine York is the Corus Entertainment PhD Fellow and a doctoral candidate in TV Studies at University of Alberta. Her award-winning articles & photographs have been published in newspapers, magazines & journals in the US, Europe, Japan, Africa, South America, Turkey & the Czech & Slovak Republics. In 2009, York’s “From Chick Flicks to Millennial Blockbusters: Spinning Female-Driven Narratives into Franchises” won the Brigman Award for top paper of the year (Journal Popular Culture 43.1, pp. 3-25). This work is reprinted in COMMON CULTURE 7/E (Pearson 2011, pp. 487-507). York presented “Moving to Mondays: ENLIGHTENED and HBO's 'Ladies Night'" at SCMS 2012 and "Making a Solo 'New' Feminist Dramedy Popular: CBS’s THE GOOD WIFE Contemporizes the American Legal Procedural" at Console-ing Passions 2012. York's research examines the role that contemporary woman-centered dramedies play in the effort to rebrand US's TV and film industries. She is writing a short monograph on THE CLOSER and the Rebranding of TNT for a university press and a CONTINUUM journal article on rethinking audience analysis for the post-TV era.
