Introduction Dear Reader - I like to think of myself as a Global Knowledge Citizen ... meaning I (work to) travel at least once a year, I traverse the world every day through my (addictive) internet surfing. I am most interested in knowledge and knowing and I derive a certain satisfaction from being a citizen of all sorts of things really ...as a South African, as a member of my urban family, my gummer's bookclub, the people that I work for and with (I am a consultant), the Twitterverse and my professional network. My work is about creating knowledge connections between people and technologies and helping cool people do cool stuff with one another, sometimes in cool places. I am called a Knowledge Manager (which usually induces a reaction of .... a WHAT?) but realistically it's not about managing anything - it's really about leverage and thrift and creativity and a bunch more intangible things. I studied English and Linguistics and then some stuff around information management and then a bunch more stuff on KM and I wrote a thesis on knowledge assets and portals. I wrote for a journal on Information Citizenship and that's where the whole concept of being a knowledge citizen evolved.
