| Introduction | I was painfully thin. As a child I only had one stripe on my pajamas. I was wiry though...the other kids called me the human pipe cleaner. I could use a flagpole for a shade tree. On my way home from school, I would weave in and out of the picket fences. I had to jump around in the shower to get wet, and that's not easy with snowshoes on, so I don't fall into the drain. I couldn't take baths in a tub because I couldn't break the surface tension of the water. I got my head stuck in a straw once trying to drink a thick malt. I looked like a beanpole. I could hulahoop with a Cheerios. On windy days I would make a funny humming noise when my legs would vibrate. As a child I was painfully thin. |
