| Introduction | This site is dedicated to my grandfathers and their experiences before, during and after World War II. Philip Leland Givan, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Division Fleet Marine Force - the Pacific Theater of World War II. Robert Eugene Parker, 530th Field Artillery Battalion, 5th Army, 5th Division, United States Army - the European Theater of World War II. Initially, this site will follow my journey of tracing the history of several Japanese items my grandfather brought home from the Pacific. I hope to track down the families of the men who carried these items into battle, and ultimately ended up in a cardboard box in my grandfather's closet until the year 2000 when I began my senior honors thesis at Ball State University. Over time, I hope to expand this site to include stories of the veterans who served with my grandfathers, photos, memories and links to other resources and sites. Thank you for visiting. |
