Introduction | With a BS in Psychology and a minor in Japanese from Ohio State, I worked for the Japanese Ministry of Education in a program started by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation to promote cultural awareness, 1989 to 1992. I used the money that I earned in Japan to travel overland from Hong Kong, up the east coast of China, and west to Golmud, China. From there, I went by bus and under a yak milk scented monk's robe into Lhasa, Tibet. I flew from Lhasa to Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines and home. Throughout 1993, I wrote a weekly column for the Madison Press, a newspaper in London, OH, chronicling my journey. Also in 1993, I started to develop an import business, with $500 worth of jewelry that I had brought home in my suitcase. Currently, I work with small, women and family owned businesses, both in the US and in Nepal with an emphasis on preserving the traditional artist. Always concerned with promoting peace through cultural awareness and understanding, my customers, friends and family have managed to support a variety of endeavors in Nepal, but most recently we are proud to be able to say that we have helped to create a library in the Rasuwa district, a remote area of Nepal. |

Do you believe that forks are evolved from spoons?
I believe both forks and spoons have devolved from chopsticks.
