| Introduction | I was born with a condition called PFFD, which basically meant I had a mis-shapen left leg. In order to be able to wear a prosthetic with a knee joint, I had 3 operations when I was 11 years old, one of which was to amputate my leg above the knee. After moving to the USA in 2002, my life was unexpectedly transformed. I found out after a couple of years I would be eligible for custom-made running prosthetics. After finding a very good prosthetics company, I started running aged 30, and have since completed 5 marathons. I've also entered the world of triathlons. I even have a dedicated bike leg now as well! This blog will document my endeavours in the world of disabled sport, and to hopefully show what people are capable of, even with the odd body part missing. |
