Introduction I have a deep respect for the art of transformation and collaboration. My focus is theatrical costuming and telling a story visually. I have been lucky to work with wonderfully talented performers who show my work beautifully. I have worked as a costume shop artisan ( crafts / milliner ) and freelance design/builder. I have collaborated with educators and writers, directors and individual artists. Going from design concept to performance is a process that I still get excited about. New ideas and ways to create keep presenting themselves. I have been exploring different dye processes intensely for the last few years. I am playing with color washes and layering of images. My fabric choices have been stretch silk velvet and cotton/lycra because I work so often with circus performers who need close fitting and colorful garments. I am starting a series of "body" pieces. Some are medical in nature, some reflect tribal body painting rituals and another explores sacred carvings of the human figure. I don't know where it is going or why but I feel compelled to follow the path.
