| Introduction | The youngest of seven in a family of nine, I didn't talk much growing up because I learned early there was little left to say. I was inquisitive, though, although many may have labeled me "nosy." exploration became a pathway to an ever-challenging world. One question seems always to leave to two or three others. I tried to cultivate digging to the taproot in the soil of the minds of students (Middle to Graduate school) I was blessed to teach and learn from. One of my favorite prototypes came from The Canterbury Tales: "and gladly would (s)he learn and gladly teach." I hope it was contagious. Questions spread like wildfire (or maybe weeds, if I may mix metaphors). I learned early to ask and have attempted to transfer the beauty and excitement that the act of learning engenders, and hope it serves as a guiding beacon to former students (Middle to Graduate schools) who have been entrusted in my care. |
