| Introduction | I grew up in the East Lansing area then started college at Kettering University. After a couple of years studying industrial and mechanical engineering, I concluded that it wasn’t the field for me. Despite a great internship at Disneyland, I felt that engineering didn’t afford me the opportunity to help people as much as I wanted to. When my boyfriend’s job moved us to Florida, I heard about the country’s shortage of pharmacists and started thinking about pharmacy as a career option. There was also a significant need for technicians and Walgreens hired me, despite my total lack of experience or pharmacy knowledge. I loved working for Walgreens and quickly got certified and soon became Senior Technician. So when Mark’s job moved us back to Michigan, I applied to pharmacy school and the rest is history. I’m not sure where pharmacy will take me, whether it will be a residency or straight into practice, but I’m certainly excited for the future! |
