| Introduction | What is the sound of one pundit sputtering and no publisher underwriting? Well, check the area. Sold a book review in 1991. What else? Circa 1973 a veteran journalism teacher taught us news-larvae that gritty jobs like waiting or cab-driving would boost our smarts by testing the academic bumf inflicted on us. A taxi driver is what I've been for 30+ years, although in that time I've also been in and out of academia, finally snagging a B.A. in 1999 (English major/Biology minor) at the over-ripe age of 46. Earlier academic careens included everything from PoliSci to Education, the zig-zag largely due to a certain impatience with classroom stuff. Job market?--meh. Ergo: I dragged down all the wonderful statistics about education turbocharging your job-prospects. And so the college-survey types stopped phoning. C'est le guerre.. But hey--send money!! You think I jest? Well, occasionally... Also suffer from delusions of self-publishing stuff, e.g. that notorious Shakespeare puzzle-play _Troilus and Cressida_. It's a satire, folks, and _Hamlet_ is too! The attendant profs are just confused, but what else is new. Come for the details, stay for the endless carping!! =] |
