IntroductionI’ve always found it strange that we’re expected to live in our bodies without ever being handed a manual. Your body changes, your mind bends, your energy rises and falls, and through it all, the world still expects you to perform—to eat well, to move right, to stay calm, to keep up. We are told to “optimise,” but not too much. To be strong, but also soft. To stay balanced, but keep climbing. So this is The Aufthority—a blog about trying to live well in a body that is both astonishing and unreliable. It’s about what happens when you examine health not just as a destination, but as a story you’re telling every day with your choices, your habits, your cravings, your rest. I am Auf Ali. My degree says I'm a chemist and my CV says I not only work in the healthcare industry, but I also live it—imperfectly—as a parent, a runner of hills, a lifter of sandbags, a person navigating this confusing and beautiful experience of having a body in the 21st century.

Favorite moviesHere, I write about: The strange science of sleep and the even stranger ritual of trying to get enough of it. The joy of running when your legs hurt, and the discipline of resting when your pride wants to keep going. The chemistry of food, and the emotions that make us eat what the chemistry tells us not to. The quiet resilience of routines. The deep humanity in choosing a balanced life over a performative one. This is not a blog for optimisation. This is a blog for observation..for pausing to take notes on what it means to care for yourself in the Anthropocene. This blog is about trying, failing, learning, and trying again. It’s a space for rigid science. And the leniency for the curious and the ignorant. For press-ups and reflection. For evidence and empathy. For staying in conversation with your own body—kindly, curiously, and with authority
