| Introduction | A major part of my spiritual beginning started when I was between 10-12 years old and we had a youth group come to visit our church for a week. One of them stayed at our house and I was fascinated that these good looking cool kids could be so into Jesus. They played guitars and sang songs not in our hymnal and just seemed to shine from within. I wanted what they had. As time went on however, I got into drugs and alcohol and smoking cigarettes and drifted away from the church. I didn't join another church for almost 30 years when I finally found Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas. Once again I saw people who looked like they had something I wanted and the emphasis was not on what I wore or how I looked at all, but on Jesus. The music and their whole way of approaching the ministry was very open and inviting. My wife and I got baptized shortly after, joined the church and started volunteering with the nursery. It is only recently however that I have begun to really start to try and put my faith into action and live the life I know I was made to live. I hope this little blog will help me further that quest. |
