| Introduction | At the conclusion of every family reunion, my Great Aunt Essie tells the story of how her father - my Great Grandfather on my Mother's side - was a six year old slave living on the Montrose Plantation in Cheraw, South Carolina when the Union soldiers rolled in and told everyone they were FREE TO GO...a singular event that leaves very little ambiguity about my particular frame of reference. I'm currently a Software Consultant who aspires to launch a second career as a Writer of Up-Market Contemporary Fiction, focused primarily on AFAM/Caribbean themes. |
