| Introduction | Compared to many people, I have been blessed for years with a relatively blissful family, career and community life, not that there were no challenges and trials. However, my wife and I were completely shocked by my sudden cancer diagnosis in late September. Two weeks after a routine physical and blood work, an ultrasound ordered to investigate elevated liver enzymes revealed a tumor in the liver, and a follow-up CT scan showed lymphnode involvement. After an excrutiating month of waiting, with constant fevers, night sweats, and extreme fatigue, I finally received a specific diagnosis. We learned that I had diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and immediately started pre-chemo staging tests at Johns Hopkins. My lymphoma is Stage IV, but we feel very confident that, with the help of God, our brilliant (and very personable) oncologist at JH, and positive attitudes, not only will we beat this cancer, but that continued blessings (many of which I have already experienced through this challenge) will result from this ordeal. |
