| Introduction | The Red Ape Brigade is a world-wide band of merry pranksters and guerilla marketeers devoted to acts of humour and civility for the good of our fellow orangutans. Orangutans are suffering because of a lack of interest and awareness. Conventional publicity is not working. The goal of the Red Ape Brigade is to change that by raising public consciousness in innovative and unexpected ways. The idea is to make orangutans visible in the public mind first, not to take political action in itself or promote individuals, organizations or causes in themselves. The publicity builds a foundation of broad awareness, on which others can take the action that is needed. Our mantra is: Keep it light, keep it polite, but never miss an opportunity to publicize the red ape. |
