| Introduction | Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, I discovered at a very young age that I had a gift of drawing. Thus, I made art the focus of my education and knew I wanted to devote my life to art. In 1987, I received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Missouri. Also, along the way, in my teens, I started to become serious with health and fitness by "sculpting" the body and I've found as I've gotten older, even more so about it and have discovered a very effective way of training in a short amount of time called "high intensity training" or "HIT". This is a great way to clear my head for painting and gives me more time to paint because working on certain projects can be very time consuming. The fitness guru Jack Lalanne said it best - "what's the number one thing you own? Your body, so you might as well take care of it first." This combination makes for a very fit all around artist - an artist by painting on canvases and an artist by building or sculpting the body. They complement each other. Sound body, sound mind is my motto. |
