Introduction	In early 2002 a drinking buddy took me to one side and asked if my girlfriend and I were interested buying a house with him on the heel of Italy. After much deliberation we politely declined, reasoning we had enough on our plates renovating our gaff in a slightly shabby area of Cardiff. A year on, and with our funds disappearing at a rate of knots we had a change of heart. We’re now the proud (co-)owners of a townhouse in a small Sardinian village. How did that happen?!
