Introduction We've been doing this blog a while, but we're still working on getting a steady pace of things and more dialogue about film stuff going. We're still focused on film, so here's what I watch for: I'm primarily interested in thematic content, not neat plot surprises, gorgeous cinematography, or clever writing and acting, though they all add to the effect of a great film. If I think a film is something socially regressive, I probably won't like it no matter how well made it is. If it's saying something interesting to me, I'm incredibly forgiving of minor flaws. I follow directors primarily and will watch anything by a director I like, even though really good ones tend to make the same film over and over. I'm more or less a firm believer in the auteur theory of filmmaking, though I recognize that A) some directors are certainly not auteurs B) some auteurs make films that just don't speak to me and C) some very good and great films have been made by directors who are not auteurs at all. If you wanna know more about me specifically, just ask.
